A 30+ year veteran of the hotel brokerage business, David has proven knowledge in all aspects of hotel transactions. As Senior Principal of The Mumford Company, David manages the company’s sales team and is responsible for the firm’s fiscal affairs, in addition to his personal brokerage practice.
David is a proven leader in the sale of middle market properties, with over 600 transactions to his credit representing aggregate market value well in excess of $1 billion in 35 states. During the firm’s prior tenure in the Hotel & Motel Brokers of America organization, David was a winner of numerous awards including ‘Broker of the Year’ on two occasions and ‘Top Performer’ for seven consecutive years. For the past four years, he has received recognition as a ‘Power Broker’ from CoStar Group.
Lending his knowledge and experience to the industry, David has been a frequently invited participant and panelist at industry conferences including the Hunter Hotel Investment Conference, the NYU Hospitality Investment Conference, the Americas Lodging Investment Summit and the Lodging Conference. He has also written numerous articles on hotel real estate in publications including Hotel Business, Hotel Journal, Hotel & Motel Management, Hotel & Resort Industry, Real Estate Forum and National Real Estate Investor.
He is a graduate of the E.C. Robins School of Business at the University of Richmond with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, concentrating in Finance. David is a Certified Hotel Broker (CHB), a designation earned through a joint program between the University of Texas and Hotel & Motel Brokers of America. He is also a member of the Advisory Board for the Hospitality & Tourism Management Program at the Pamplin College of Business at Virginia Tech.
